On October 15, 2026, OpenAI announced the rollout of GPT-Live-1.1 and its mini version, GPT-Live-1.1 Quip, in ChatGPT Voice. It highlights more natural accents and a wider variety of short progress phrases during searches.
New voice choices
Options include French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mexican Spanish, and Bubbie in English. Choose a voice under Settings, Voice. The visible list can differ by account and region, so the announcement does not promise identical menus on launch day.
Compare with your own dialogue
For language practice, try the same short exchange containing dates, names, and changes of tone. Check intelligibility and continuity when interrupting. This is a suggested comparison method; the claim of more natural accents is not proof of equal quality across languages.
Keep API availability separate
This release concerns ChatGPT Voice. App developers should verify the API’s own model versions, voices, and pricing. A consumer-product model label does not establish that an existing API model has changed or retained the same price.
