On October 16, 2026, OpenAI announced an update to GPT-6 Pro in ChatGPT’s Chat tab: faster responses, improved plugin and tool use, and multiple agents working on different parts of a task in parallel.
Inspect the work
Users can follow agent progress in the conversation and open completed tasks to see what was done. Parallel work can help explore several directions, but the number of agents is not a guaranteed speed multiplier, nor does every request necessarily require a split.
Scope of the rollout
The update rolls out to eligible Pro users, with managed-workspace availability depending on settings and rollout eligibility. It is not a new multi-agent API or a blanket model change for Work and Codex. Connected-app access still follows existing permissions.
